In this research review/meta analysis they looked at how TCM formulas and extracts modulate the main pathway causing Alzheimer’s Disease (AD). They didn’t look at 1 specific formula but searched the research data bases for TCM formulas and extracts used in research to treat AD. They found less cell death, inhibition of tau protein phosphorylation, regulation of inflammatory responses and relief of oxidative stress. Unfortunately many of the studies were done on animals or just cells but the results are promising none the less. The words of the researchers sum it up best: “In contrast to single-component drugs, herbal formulations and extracts derived from TCM offers the advantage of multi-component, multi-pathway, and multi-target approaches, which makes it a promising candidate for treating complex chronic diseases such as AD”
