In this research they looked at what happens to the immune system after and acupuncture treatment. I haven’t seen the mechanism of acupuncture described so clearly before! I’ll let the researchers say it in their own words “acupuncture evoked a mechanical and thermal stimulus within acupoints, the generated electrical signal then transmitted by somatic sensory fibres to the central nervous system, and produced distinct descending regulatory pathways. Such as the cholinergic anti-inflammatory pathway, the vagal-adrenal pathway, the spinal-sympathetic pathway, and the brain-gut pathway.”
