Research shows that Angela Dahurica roots helps migraines through gut-microbiome-brain axis.
Angela Dahurica (Bai Zhi) root
This research is done on rats , so I’m not going to extrapolate too much here, but I did find it interesting. We do use Bai Zhi (Angelica Dahurica) root to treat migraines in humans, so that is more relavent, but the interesting part here is that the Bai Zhi helps by reinforcing gut barrier function, enriching anti-inflammatory Lactobacillus , and restoring neurotransmitter/neurovascular homeostasis through 2-AG-mediated CGRP1 inhibition according to the research. Interesting to see that herbs start working right away in the gut and through helping the gut biome too! We have a long time of co-evolution comsuming plants!
