Research Review on effect of acupuncture on brain scans of people with Alzheimer's disease (AD) and mild cognitive impairment (MCI).

Brain Scans

Alzheimers and Dementia in general, are terrible diseases. The effect on the patients and their families and care givers is immense. Loosing cognitively function or watching your loved one slip away is heart wrenching and difficult to say the least. In this paper they did a research review of 58 different studies to look at the effect acupuncture on the brain scans of people with Alzheimer's disease (AD) and mild cognitive impairment (MCI). They “employed 8 neuro-imaging techniques and 29 outcome measures, with a primary focus on brain functional activation regions and brain functional connectivity.” They found “acupuncture for AD and MCI demonstrates clear efficacy, which is supported by imaging evidence.”
